Montshire building, grounds & trails closed Read More
In the interest of public health, the Montshire’s building, grounds, and trails are temporarily closed until further notice.
At the Montshire, we believe that joyful moments of learning and discovery should be accessible to everyone. That’s why we’ve taken care to expand access and to ensure that the experiences we offer are relevant, comfortable, and welcoming for all visitors.
Designated parking spaces close to the building are available in our parking lot.
The Museum’s first and second floors and bathrooms are entirely wheelchair accessible. The second-floor may be reached by elevator. Several outdoor exhibits and walking trails in the Quinn Nature Preserve are wheelchair accessible with assistance.
If needed, an adult-sized wheelchair is available to borrow on a first come, first served basis. Please see our Admissions Desk for more information.
The Montshire offers resources to help families plan for their upcoming visits. These tools provide a better sense of what a museum visit entails and can help people prepare for it.
Sensory supplies are available for those who may need them:
Guests may borrow these supplies from the Admissions Desk. All supplies are available on a first come, first served basis and must be returned to the Admissions Desk before the end of the day.
Sensory resources and information were made possible by a grant from the Institute for Museum and Library Services.
Special admission and membership fees are offered to low-income families through the Warm Welcome program.
Strollers are welcome and may be parked in our self-service coatroom. The first and second floors of the Museum are stroller accessible.
If needed, a stroller is available to borrow first come, first served basis. Please see our Admissions Desk for more information.
Restrooms are located on the first floor and are wheelchair accessible. A gender-neutral, single-occupancy locked restroom can be made available. Please see our Admissions Desk for more information.
First Aid Kits are available throughout the museum. If you would like access to one, our floor staff can direct you to the closest one. You may also store your medical equipment or medications at the Admissions Desk at any time during your visit.
