GROUP VISIT TERMS and POLICIES
All groups must have a ratio of 1 adult (17+) for every 7 children. If your reservation request form shows too few adults, we will not be able to process your reservation.
Upon arrival at the museum, your group must be admitted to the museum in a single transaction.
If multiple admissions are needed (e.g. each classroom needs to be paid for separately), please submit multiple reservation requests.
The reservation request form will ask you how many adults in your group are members, and how many are paying their own admission when they arrive at the museum.
- Adults paying for their admission when they arrive do not qualify for the group rate as they are checked in separately. To get the group rate, please include these adults in your group payment and have them reimburse the booking organization directly.
- Montshire memberships are NOT applicable for adults or children as part of a group visit.
Children of members may not use membership for entry, even if their parent is present.
If you are unsure how many adults are members, we will charge you for all adults in the group. You can update your reservation information 5 business days prior to your arrival.
Adults paying for their admission when they arrive do not qualify for the group rate as they are checked in separately. To get the group rate, please include these adults in your group payment and have them reimburse the booking organization directly.
On the day of the visit, please provide the admissions staff with a final count of adults and children in the group at check in.
We have multiple groups visiting most days, so please make sure everyone in the group has a name tag, matching T-shirts, or other distinguishing item on their person so staff can easily ascertain to which group visitors belong.
Accredited schools and not-for-profit organizations may choose to be invoiced after visit; other groups must pay prior to visit or at the door. We accept cash, check, and all major credit cards.
Eating is not currently allowed inside the museum. Take advantage of our outdoor spaces, eat on the bus or have your meal offsite—your admission is good all day.
Membership: Montshire members visiting with a group (adults and children) cannot use their membership for entry.
- Science Workshops: Science Workshops are for school groups only and are only offered on days when school is in session, at the discretion of Montshire staff. No additional discounts available. Subject to availability and staffing limitations. See a list of workshops offered below.
Museum Store: All children must be accompanied and supervised by an adult while shopping to assist with selection and prevent inadvertent shoplifting. Unsupervised children will be asked to wait in the Admission area and their chaperone will be paged. All purchases will be kept at Admission Desk in labeled bags until group departs for the day. Please note that there is a 6% sales tax on most purchases.
Group visit terms may shift at discretion of Museum; new policies will be communicated by email to Group Leader listed on reservation request.
