This annual conversations series explores the crossroads of science and culture. This year, the Montshire Talks celebrated the 200th anniversary of the publication of Mary Shelley’s Frankenstein. Through her work of science fiction, Shelley sparked the imaginations of generations who question the balance of human creativity, societal responsibility, and scientific ethics. Montshire Talks: Frankenstein200 surveyed the philosophy of science, artificial intelligence, popular culture, and Mary Shelley’s lasting influence on ethical questions.
In partnership with the Hanover Garden Club, the Montshire hosts the popular Garden Club monthly program series, covering a variety of topics related to gardening and natural history of the Upper Valley.
The Montshire Museum and Osher@Dartmouth share a commitment to adult participation in science education. Montshire members now have access to select Osher@Dartmouth science courses—the Osher@Dartmouth membership fee is waived, though the course fee still applies.
