A Big Move Event, featuring Dancer Emmanuèle Phuon with Ecologist Tom Wessels, Session 1

Strolling through an old-growth grove in the woodlands, discover the history imprinted on the land and its trees with terrestrial ecologist Tom Wessels. After an in-depth tour of woods, dancer/choreographer Emmanuèle Phuon leads participants in transposing this knowledge to our personal memories and experiences with nature, using our bodies to connect to trees and their mythologies in a sensible, embodied, and inclusive way.

Drawing from Phuon’s experience working with Cambodian classical dancers, participants are invited to experiment on a free interpretation of classical Cambodian gestures adapted to all ages. Participants of all ages and experiences are welcome. Recommended for ages 10 and up.

Organized in partnership with the Hopkins Center for the Arts, join us for an immersive forest experience that interweaves a terrestrial ecology tour with nature-inspired movement explorations.
