BODY CARNIVAL: THE SCIENCE AND FUN OF BEING YOU!

INTERACTIVE EXHIBIT FOR ALL AGES AT ___________________________________

DATELINE--Step right up, ladies, gentlemen, and children, and enjoy the show! Body Carnival: The Science and Fun of Being You! will be on display at ___________________________ from ________________. With a theme of exploring the science of the human body, this exhibit offers visitors some unique participatory experiences.

Young visitors can crawl through an artery - the "Tunnel of Blood" - and see for themselves the effects of plaque formation. The reverberations of sound in your bones and muscles make learning fun for everyone at the "Feel Music" pad. While traveling through the "Dizzy Tunnel," visitors of all ages can experience the sensation of falling out of control as they test their balance. Of special interest to adults is the "Calculation Station," where you can determine your target heart rate, and the "Pressure Vessel," which measures blood pressure. At the "Go with the Flow" exhibit module, the effects of blood vessel blockage can be easily visualized. These experiences and many more will demonstrate in an exciting and fun way that physical science principals are continually at work in the body. The concepts of force and pressure, the properties of light and sound, and the laws of motion come to life as visitors interact with these carnival-themed exhibits. "Body Carnival" offers something for everyone, young and old alike!

This exhibition was developed by two North Carolina museum - the Catawba Science Center in Hickory, and The Health Adventure in Ashevill - as part of the TEAMS II (Traveling Exhibits at Museums of Science) collaborative funded by a grant from the National Science Foundation.

The Catawba Science Center in Hickory provides over 12,000 square feet of engaging hands-on exhibits and activities encompassing the physical and natural sciences. The Health Adventure was one of the first health education facilities in the United States with over 12,000 square feet of hands-on health and science exhibits.
