What to Bring to Montshire Camp

Preschool Camp

Clothes for exploring. Old clothes and sneakers are best. No flip-flops or crocs without a heel strap, please.

Rain gear (as the weather dictates). This includes raincoat and rain hat. No umbrellas. We do activities outside on rainy days, but will bring the children inside in the case of thunderstorms or severe weather.

We provide a snack each day and carry water for the preschool campers on our hikes.

Outdoor Discovery Camp, Montshire Explorers, Upper Valley Adventures, Inventors' Workshop, and Aquatic Investigations

Lunch and mid-morning snack. We suggest simple healthy foods such as fresh or dried fruit, veggies, cheese, bagels, crackers, peanut butter sandwiches, and yogurt. A frozen water bottle or juice box will help keep food cool on hot days. If your child is staying for the Extended Option please include an additional snack.

Lunch boxes should fit in the daypack. We do not have trashcans at our campsite, so include a small bag for lunch trash. In addition, you may want to include a wet wipe, as most sites do not have running water.

Water bottle. We always have extra water at our campsites to refill. Larger water bottles are needed for Montshire Explorers, Upper Valley Adventures, and Aquatic Investigations.

Sneakers (worn to camp) and an additional pair of shoes to wade and swim in (i.e. teva-like sandals, water shoes, or old sneakers.) No flip-flops or crocs without a heel strap, please. Children are required to wear water shoes when swimming at the Montshire site.

Raincoat. No umbrellas please. Boots are not necessary. We do activities outside in rainy weather, but will bring the children inside in the case of thunderstorms or severe weather.

Daypack to comfortably transport the above items. Please leave other items at home or the packs get too heavy for the children to carry comfortably.

Camp clothes. Old clothes and sneakers are best for exploring outdoors. We do not want your child to worry about getting good clothes dirty.

Swimsuit and towel. Bathing suits can be worn under clothing if your child prefers not to change at camp.

Bug repellent & sunscreen (optional). We always have extra sunscreen but do not provide bug repellent.

Exploring Nature Though Art and Kinetic Art

Bring a snack. A lunch is needed if your child is enrolled in both programs.
