The Montshire Museum of Science is a hands-on museum located in Norwich, Vermont, offering dozens of exciting exhibits relating to the natural and physical sciences, ecology, and technology. The building is located on a 110-acre site near the Connecticut River, and the Museums' outdoor environment is a large part of the visitor experience. The Montshire Museum is an official visitor center for the Silvio O. Conte National Fish and Wildlife Refuge.
The Montshire Museum first opened in Hanover, N.H., in 1974. The "new" Montshire occupies a 110-acre site along the Connecticut River.
The Montshire board of trustees adopted the following mission statement in 1991:
"The purpose of the Montshire Museum is to create, awaken, foster, and nurture an interest in and curiosity about the physical and natural world by providing programs, experiences, and exhibits emphasizing real objects and phenomena."
The Montshire Museum is the perfect venue for your special event. Two stories of exciting exhibit galleries housed under a vaulted cathedral ceiling and spectacular outdoor areas create a setting that exudes both grandeur and intimacy. The Montshire's spacious Community Room is perfect for meetings or catered functions.
Montshire has an active volunteer program for members who wish to help with exhibits, education, outdoor programs, fund-raising, and other museum activities.
Montshire occasionally has employment, internship and work-study opportunities.
