Cathedral Window

Polarized light and the colors it can reveal

It's not really stained glass, but it looks that way. This exhibit uses polarization to hide and show the colors of ordinary daylight, shifting as the polarizing film is rotated. Turning a clear polarizing disk, the visitor sees the colors in the “cathedral window” shift and change as the polarizations of the two windowpanes line up.
