Thank you to everyone who helped make the 2009 Montshire Auction a great success: guests, sponsors, donors, and all of our dedicated volunteers. The Auction raised more than $110,000 for science education programs that provide our community with rich opportunities for learning and inspiration. We're especially pleased that so many auction guests took the opportunity to help "Fund a Need." Over $5,000 was raised for Summer Camp Scholarships, free Museum visits for families in need, hands-on activities at the Science Discovery Lab, and energy saving initiatives. If you have comments or questions, or if you are interested in volunteering for a future auction, please email us at
auction@montshire.org.

Donors
The Auction would not be possible without the support of the businesses and individuals who donated items to benefit the Museum. Each donor is recognized in the catalog and in the Valley News, but we want to send a heartfelt THANK YOU here as well.

Tax deductibility
Items donated to the Montshire Auction are tax-deductible according to the tax basis (not the fair market value). In general, if the total charitable deduction claimed for non-cash property exceeds $500, the taxpayer must file IRS Form 8283. For property valued at more than $5,000, a written appraisal may be required.
For items and services purchased at the Auction, any amount paid that exceeds the fair market value may be tax-deductible. Reservation fees and raffle tickets are not tax-deductible. Please consult your tax advisor for more details or advice.
